How Our Backup and Maintenance Agreements Work...

Backups are Everyone's Responsibility.

I'll be honest with you.  Backup and Maintenance Agreements are a great cash cow from my perspective.  They're easy.  I can do something else while they're getting done.  And they're recurring.  (Which means they're kind of like buying toilet paper.)  But you really need to be doing them yourself.

Besides, I can only come out to do your backups so many times.  With one of our Backup and Maintenance Agreements, that would be once per quarter for a year.  But what happens if your hard drive crashes two days before I show up to do a backup?  You don't want to lose 2 months of data, do you?

So for the vast majority of you, whether you have a Service Agreement with us or not, the best thing I can do for you is teach you how to do the backups yourself, or perhaps set them up automatically, if possible*.  Of course, as part of a new Service Agreement, I'll do a Ghost image backup of your computer, and if you ever need me to do something to your PC that might harm your data, I'll do a data backup just before starting the repair.

However, since there might be a few people and especially businesses out there who may still need a Backup and Maintenance Agreement,

Here's What We Offer...

Once a quarter, for a year, we'll come by your location and If you've got a business, and your computers are the expensive, workstation variety, this may be just what you need to maintain your investment.  You should also know that a well-maintained computer runs faster (disk reads and writes, mostly) and lives longer than a poorly maintained computer.  Dust builds up on the inside of your computer, creating an insulating blanket on the system board chips and clogging the vents, forcing the fans to work harder, and generally increasing the temperature of the components.  Higher chip temperatures shorten the lives of your chips, leading to system board failures.  Harder working fans result in ball bearing failure, loud screeching noises, and sudden power supply shutdowns.

So if things like that are important to you, by all means, get a Backup and Maintenance Agreement or at least have us teach you how to do it yourself.  Of course if you have us do it for you, you'll  know for sure it'll get done, since we'll be bound by our contract to do it.  Contracts are a great cure for procrastination.  ;)

Here's how to get a Backup and Maintenance Contract...

Call our toll free Help Desk number (866-446-2424) and set up a time for one of us to come over and evaluate your backup and maintenance needs.  Backup and Maintenance Agreements are $320 per year for the first computer and $160 per year per additional computer.  If you've already got a Service Agreement with us, we'll knock $50 off the price tag.  And for each of those 8 services that you want to do yourself, we'll reduce the price by another $20, but we'll have to write all that into the contract.  House call fees are the same here as for regular support calls, $10 per visit, plus 50 cents per mile over 5 miles away from I-81 on the way To your location, but if you've got a regular Service Agreement too, we'll waive the $10 part of the charge.  Also, we're not going to be able to do any repairs or installations, etc, while we're on a Backup and Maintenance Agreement visit.

Oh, for an extra $10, we'll offer to keep a CD / DVD offsite backup for you at our location, which is great fire insurance.

If a yearly Backup and Maintenance Agreement isn't for you,

but you'd still like us to do a backup and/or maintenance visit for your computer(s), that's fine.  We'll come by and do whatever's necessary, but we'll charge you the regular support call amount, depending on whether you've got a Service Agreement or not.

The Point Is,

We care about you, your computers, and your data, and like a doctor, we want you to be healthy in all those areas.  Lots of people identify very strongly with their computers these days, perhaps because so much of their personal effort goes into what they have stored on them.  So we'll do whatever we need to give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your computers are all healthy and your data is all safely backed up.

* Automatic backups have certain requirements:  You've got to have more than just your C: drive for online storage media, and that additional storage media should be large enough to accommodate all of your backups.  You've also got to leave your PC on during the time when the backup will occur.
